The assessment of higher order thinking skills (HOTS) is the important practices in teaching and learning process. However, various issues raised process developing task, namely i) vague diverse understanding HOTS concept. ii) rely on verb as a determinant to categorize ability level task. educators should master five fundamental principles development good quality high degree validity tasks. Besides, hold clear concept which can be viewed from three main categories, transfer, critical problem solving. Various strategies are stated for assessing solving, creativity innovative, decision-making ability. In scoring process, apart accuracy facts answers, assessor also emphasize response structure terms apply, analyze or synthesize content learned, well understand use information provided scenario. detail discussions HOTS, assess tasks would provide thorough comprehensive overview task This very vital teachers who play role professional assessors.
